Using a CMP

Many site owners don’t build their banner themselves. They use a Consent Management Platform (CMP) — a ready-made cookie-banner tool. A CMP makes adding a banner easier and often comes with extra features: ready-made texts for each purpose, an automatic scan of the cookies and plugins you use, and a way to block data collection until the visitor agrees.

  • Change the settings and design in the CMP’s dashboard — that’s usually where you fix defaults that don’t meet the rules.
  • Can’t change it enough? Talk to the CMP and get them to fix it.
  • If the CMP won’t help, take your own steps — for example, switch to another CMP.
  • Before you pick a new CMP, check first that it lets you set the banner up to meet the rules.
